How to screencapture CONTENTS of a window, without title bar?

That's because the suggestions do not solve the problem. The poster does not want to use mouse-selection because it is tedious and error-prone if you want to select exactly the same number of pixels every time. This is a silly gap in the Mac's functionality.

Are you asking about screenshots in general? You have three choices: the entire Mac's screen, an entire window including the title bar, or a selection created by dragging a selection rectangle.

To take a screenshot for posting on this site hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.

If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.

When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field.

This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.

⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.

⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.

Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

Press COMMAND-SHIFT-4. Hold down the mouse button and use the crosshairs cursor to select what you want to capture, then release the mouse button.

I understand that Ondesoft ScreenCapture 1.20.5 is very full featured, but have never used it myself. You can also search macupdate.com for the many different third-party screen/window capture utilities.

I suggest you use Grab before considering anything from untrustworthly sources.

Grab is in your Mac's Utilities folder.

This also works with TrackPad.

Try a little third party tool Skitch on the Appstore. It is a bit more precise and you can add pointers and the like.

Maybe that is better.

I have never had any problems with crosshair accuracy on Grab or cmd shift 4. There is always crop in any number of standard apps if you select big.

Grab has a selection option.
