Why won't "Find My Iphone" show last known location?

Recently, I lost my iPhone and have tried to use the Where's my Iphone app. However, the phone was dead by the time I tried to use the app. On the Apple support page it says that the app will tell you the phone's last known location if it is dead. When I log into iCloud, all it says it that the device is offline and gives me the options to play a sound, lock, and erase the phone. Below, it says that the device cannot be located. I figure it couldn't be loaded because it died, but I would still like to have an idea of where it is. Why isnt' it showing me a map? Is there anyway to show the last known location before it died?

Please note that I have used the app before and know that the location services is enabled.
