Random Kernel Panics: Kernel trap type 14=page fault

MBP late 2013, 15inch, 16gb ram, 512g ssd, iris pro

Starting from several weeks ago, I get several kernel panics per week. This morning, when I woke my machine up (connected to a external display) and power up the external display. I immediately got a white screen and then the famous kernel panic screen. You may think this is the resuming from sleep problem, but in my case similar kernel panics also happen when running. The following is kernel panic log from console:

Mon May 19 09:29:47 2014

Besides running the Apple hardware Tests from your original Disk, or maybe by starting up holding down cmd-d, I don't know of anything to actually check a hard drive completely.

If you've got a spare external hard drive, or one you can at least partition and install OS X on, you can boot from that and see what happens. If it works without panic, it doesn't necessarily indicate the internal drive is bad because you don't have everything loaded on the external.

If it works off the external, I would back up, erase the internal and reinstall. You could also clone your internal to the external and see how it runs booted from that.

If that works, then maybe try erasing the internal and cloning back from the external.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my drives.

All I am going by is the type of faults that are happening.

Kernel panics are caused by hardware faults and bad kernel extensions (almost exclusively third-party). Your first panic log didn't show any third-party kernel extensions, but the second does.

Given that paragon was loaded, you must have an external hard drive connected. They can cause kernel panics (hardware), but I don't know what that looks like.

Just got one more KP when I plugged in the external drive and earphone in quick succession.

Hi Samuel,

I have the same problem.

It's more than 2 months I'm getting Kernel Panics, I've tried everything but can't have a solution.

The iMac 2011,2 3,2 GHz Intel Core i3, OS X 10.9.4, keep on restarting 2-3 times a day with various Kernel Panics:

- PHYSMAP_PTOV bounds exceeded

- panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff801e4dc24e): Kernel trap at 0xffffff801e75febc, type 13=general protection

- panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff800d654c66): "a freed zone element has been modified: expected 0xffffff8041c2ce58 but found 0xfacaff2f850c1b8d, bits changed 0x53500afc4ced5d5, at offset 16 of 24 in zone: fileproc"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2422.110.17/osfmk/kern/zalloc.c:461

- panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff80048dc24e): Kernel trap at 0xffffff7f865e85f5, type 14=page fault

- panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff80010dc24e): Kernel trap at 0xffffff80011cafd0, type 13=general protection

And many others.

I've tried Safe Mode, Resetting NVRAM / PRAM, repairing permissions, preferences, rebuilding database, prebinding and all the maintenance options via MacPilot.

The last solution: Initializing the disk and re-installing Mavericks (OS X Mavericks: Erase and reinstall OS X)

But this night, while Dropbox was syncing at 02:18 the iMac restarted:

Wed Sep 3 02:18:40 2014

panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff801c2dc24e): Kernel trap at 0xffffff801c3cc2b0, type 14=page fault

In Console I have these messages:
