Final Cut Express HD- worth the buy?

I was considering buying Final Cut Express HD because from the description, it sounds like it can use two video clips at once in a movie. But I read one person's review of the program and they said this wasn't possible? I'm a little bit confused with that. For instance, if I was going to create a video where I wanted four boxes, each showing a different clip (or even the same, it doesn't matter), is that possible with Final Cut Express? I was really just wondering if various clips can be utilized at the same time. And I'd also like to know about anything else relating to the topic of using several clips at once or how it can be done in Final Cut. I know some people I've read seem to love it, others not so much. Is it worth the buy?
