1333 Mhz memory on a Mac Pro 5,1 that use 1066 MHz memory bus?

Hi every one.

I got a Mac Pro (MacPro5,1) Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3.2 GHz.

From factory this machine comes with 3 dimms of 2gb 1066mhz each one and i want to upgrade the ram.

The problem is that I am having problems to find memory of this bus, so i was thinking about to put memory of 1333mhz bus instead 1066, but i want to know if this will not bring me any problem.

Does anyone have tried this?

My early2009 Mac Pro(Mac Pro4,1) have 1333MHz Memories which are running at 1066MHz without any problen.

It depends on the processor in large measure and also the firmware, a lot of users had upgraded firmware to 5,1 to better support the 6-core W3680/3690, and 1333MHz DDR3.

http://www.macdsales.com/memory is a good place to start search and research even if you don't buy there.

Today, 3 x 8GB would be a good place to start your upgrade on memory.

Also, replace the boot drive with a 250-500GB SSD as well.

Then there are other things you can still do if needed.

4 x 4GB RAM might be enough but lock you in when you want or need more.

The OEM GT120 is also worth looking at how well it suits your needs.

graphic scratch disks and for graphic libraries are another area all in order to optimize system performance and reduce bottlenecks.
