DVD Recorder with DV input

Is there a DVD hard Disk recorder which is compatible with FCP, utilizing a DV input ?

Purchased a LG model (LRH790 250GB HDD) with a 4-pin DV input on the front of the component. Sending a DV-NTSC signal to the recorder via a FireWire 400 to 6 pin cable. The recorder display states 'no camcorder detected'. I checked the manual and it staes that the recorderis only compatible with two types of DV (DVC-SD, DV25).

I connected my camcorder to the input and it worked great, even allowed me to control the camcorder through the recorder remote.

However I would like to go from FCP directly into a DV input of a DVD recorder. Can anyone suggest a brand / model ?

Thanks

PowerMac G4, Mac OS X (10.4.7), FCP 5.1.1, SonyDSR-1500A, 2GB RAM

Unfortunately, most DVD recorders are not compatible with NLE systems by design. The driving force behind this is the major movie studios and distributors ... especially Sony (which owns several studios).

Occasionally you will find one that is compatible, but its kind of a hit or miss thing. For example, my Panasonic and my friend's Sony and Panasonic DVD recorders are NOT compatible, but my Pioneer DVR-533HS is fully compatible with FCP. That model has now been discontinued, but I've seen some web retailers that have a few left in stock.

I just finished working on an AVID where we had no problem outputting from the Mojo directly into a DVD recorder via a DV input. The LG I purchased would work fine with the AVID since DV25 is one of the supported formats.

What exactly is it I need to be looking for to know if it is compatible ? I am assuming that the signal I am sending out of the FCP is DV-NTSC since this is the preset I used to capture. Do I need to find a recorder which states that it supports DV-NTSC ?

Just for clarification, it is only the DV input which is not compatible, I have no problem recording the signal if I convert it to analog through my DSR-1500A deck or my external Canopus ADVC110

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the information about the 'pro apps update' changing things. Dissapointing that there is no stable way to come in directly FireWire. I have previously recorded hundreds of hours analog on a Toshiba and Pioneer recorder (they did not have DV inputs) without any problems, I fed the signal through my DSR-1500 deck to convert it to analog.

I am moving the deck onto a separate capturing system, so I will now use my Canopus ADVC 110 to convert to analog. Hopefully this configuration will be as reliable as the previous one was.
