Record button is missing from Logic Pro X project file

If you see a little green padlock in the track header of the particular track it may mean that the track is protected from further accidental changes.

Click the green padlock to un-protect the track and you should see the record-enable button return.

If no padlock is displayed press option-T (keyboard shortcut) to display the Track Header Configs settings

An hour later and it still reports this... Either something's not right (again), or you have included all audio files somehow, making the project possibly several gigabytes large - this is not necessary, don't include audio files.

Downloaded, unzipped and opened it. Are you absolutely sure you have an input device enabled in Logics' audio prefs? Are you sure you could not enable it in your toolbar config? Can you please show a screenshot of both?

Check Logic's Audio preferences and set the audio settings to match your own hardware..... and ensure CoreAudio is on...

The record button in the transport bar shows up no matter what track you add or use...

Its that button in the transport bar (as per Erik's screenshot) the OP says is missing......

I will test what you describe, as happening and post back shortly.....

In the meantime... try this...

Create a new project with the record enable checked..

Now use the Selective Track Import Feature to import all the tracks from your friend's project in to the new project you just created...

Try this; create a new project, but do NOT tick the "Record Enable" box before hitting "Create". From there, how can you get the "record" button to show up?

I did this and the record button appears in both the transport bar and the track header.. so I cannot reproduce your issue here...

I tried various different things to see if i could force the Record button not to appear in the transport bar.. and i could not make it happen....

Did you check what Erik showed you in his post? Thats the only way i can make the record button in the transport bar disappear.. by unchecking that setting..... Every other way I have tried doesn't remove the button.

I tried two different approaches;

I created an Audio track and did not select record-enable (during creation)

I also created another Audio track (Audio2) and enabled recording (during creation)

Neither method affected the Record button on the Control Bar.

Yes. I tried Erik's Contoll Bar customization and that's also the only way I can make button disappear too.

Is it possible that the LPX file itself is not allowing changes because its locked (as a project) or because its a Read Only file?

I just discovered that if you open an LPX Project that has been designated as Read Only then the Control Bar Customization is greyed out. Closing the project I returned it to Read and Write and the Control Bar Customization was available once again.

If it wasnt greyed out then that's not the issue. FYI only.

Yes.. Im guessing the OP sent the entire project and not just the stuff we need...

Anyhow.. got to get to work.. so Ill test this later unless someone else (like Erik 🙂 ) works out the issue beforehand......
