Record button is missing from Logic Pro X project file

My friend created a project in Logic Pro and sent it to me. It is an insturmental remix of a song. I am however not able to record anything as the record button is missing. It is apparent that he did not tick the "Record Enable" box when the project was created, thus I am not seeing a record button (unlike the other projects I create, where as the button is clearly there) in this project file.

I can't for the life of mine figure out how to get the record button visible in the project. I've read that one should go to "Preferences" and choose the right microphone input device, but it is already the correct input. I am even seeing that the dB parameter is moving up and down, due to noise from the microphone. How do I get the "Record" button?

Help, anyone...

OK, yes, you have the record button enabled, yes, and now I dare officially say: weird.

Because as said, the only way to make that button not show up is to deselect it in the config dialog - even if I select "No Input" in my audio prefs and turn off all advanced tools, the record button still appears.

So the way it was created has nothing to do with it, it seems, and there's no need to "record enable" a project.

The thing to try next is to trash your Logic Pro X preferences:

First quit Logic. In Finder, drop down the Go menu while holding the Alt key, choose Library. This will bring you to your (otherwise hidden) User Library. Go to the Preferences folder and delete all files with Logic10 in them. Now start Logic (new prefs files will be created). Open the recordbuttonless project to see if it has helped. If not, well, then... then... let's just not think about that...

+1 Erik..... weird indeed....

Blop,

Just to confirm.. when you start a new project then the record button shows up in the transport bar yes? Its only when you load your friend's project does it not show up?

If so, then it becomes even weirder....... because like Erik, loading in your no button project dopesnt affect anything here.. the record button is in place as normal for me too....
