hello Apple20141,

This is not the responsible answer that we expected..

We know whatsapp is not created by Apple, but where it supports for android or other mobiles why apple alone not allowing to save the audio or mp3 files, why don't apple get in touch with Whatsapp and solve it, because it's disappointing apple users only, understand that pls.

No one here would know why Apple has chosen not to allow people to save files from an app such as Whatsapp, though, if I had to guess, I'd say security and to discourage pirating of music.

You can submit feedback to Apple requesting that they make a change here:

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

The iPhone can't send or save songs because of the limitations of iOS, whereas other phones can because the file system is more accessible. Unfortunately we cannot comment on any future plans, but nonetheless, please know that we value and use your feedback to improve WhatsApp.

It helped me. I am using iPhone, iPad, iPod and MacBook. I received an audio file on WhatsApp on my iPhone but there was no way for me to play it in some other player on the phone. I moved to iPhone after using Android for years. So I found this a bit restraining. (iPhone tries to dictate what you can or cannot do with your data, files, phone logs etc).

I found the following hack fairly useful. Simply open WhatsApp in Chrome on your laptop (MacBook in my case), download the received audio file onto your MacBook and then drag and drop the audio file into iTunes on your MacBook. Then connect your iPhone / iPod / iPad to the MacBook and move the audio file onto the device. Voila.

You can save the received Whatsapp audio to your iphone by, 'long press on the audio file received', then select 'Forward' from the pop-up list, then click on the "Share" symbol at the bottom right end. In that list, select to "Add to Notes". Then in the subsequent box which appears, you can save this audio file as a 'New Note' or attach to any pre-existing file on your iphone. Choose 'Save' on the top right corner of the box.

AND DONE!!!!!!! Your Whatsapp audio is saved to your Notes App.

[If by chance you are not able to find your audio in 'Notes' App; click on the Back/Left Direction arrow on the top left corner of the screen in the Notes App, it would lead to "Folders" menu: "iCloud Notes" and "On My iPhone Notes". The audio would have got saved to "On my iPhone Notes" column]
