Is *anyone* happy with their new MBP?

I just bought one (15"/2.16GHz standard configuration) and it's still in the box. I think I might return it after reading about the headaches and heartaches. My PowerBook G4 is old and cranky and needs to be replaced, but at least I get wireless, my battery doesn't "swell", and the power adapter has yet failed to burn my fingerprints off.

So, I may be asking in the wrong place (because this is a forum that attracts people with complaints), but I'm wondering - is there a real alternative for Mac notebook users right now? Do the many problems I've read about exist in pretty much all the MBPs out there? Or has anyone heard of a small population of users who are happy and carefree?

I don't know how much longer I can sit and look at this unopened box - but I don't want to have shelled out $2400 for a really bad experience.

Debra, open the box and enjoy. What you read on this forum is a small sample of owners. Most of us are are enjoying the machine.

I AM QUITE HAPPY, BECAUSE THIS MORNING ANOTHER POSTER SUGGESTED TO TRY CONNECTING VIA ETHERNET CABLE. I HAVE BEEN AT TWO LOCATIONS, DSL AND CABLE SERVICES; BOTH I USED ETHERNET TO THEIR ROUTERS, AND NOW VERY FAST...

I'll make time to go 35 extra miles to Apple Store and complain about Airport in my MBP. If that's the only fix needed now, then I am happy! In the interim, I'll try to get an ethernet cable longer than 6', unless that's not suggested.

Does anone know that?

the mbp batteries dont swelll...you should be worried about your pb batteries doing that. the FIRST 2 month batteries in the MBP werent charging properly..but u shouldnt have that problem...just incase u might wanna check to see if ur battery qualifies...Support Tab>lowerrightofpage(15-inch macbook pro) under Exchanges and Extentions.... i never had a whine noise...and although mine gets a little hot sometimes, people say that the battery exchange usually fixes that. so i would just "OPEN THE BOX AND ENJOY"
