Hello there, Mevenegas.

The following Knowledge Base article offers how to change the name of your device using iTunes:

iTunes and iOS: Change the name of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3965

Using your computer

  1. Connect your device and open iTunes.
  2. Click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.) If you don't see your device, choose Hide Sidebar from the View menu.

  3. Next to the picture of your device, double-click the name of your device.

It's slightly different with the Nano. The top centre tile that says 'Alan's Ipod' and is shaded blue in Itunes 12 looks like it should be editable but isn't. You have to go to the Ipod Nano Icon on the left hand side of Itunes left sidebar. Then double click on the title that says 'Alan's Ipod' (or whatever the default name it has given your Nano) there. It is editable and changeable there. I also logged out of Itunes store in case it was holding on a linkage there, but I'm not sure if that made a difference.

I did however successfully rename the 7th Gen Nano this am. after struggling to do so by any other method, including system resets to the Nano, and exploring the menus on the Nano itself.

Hope this helps.
