How's everyone liking iOS9? The major change I noticed is that now when the iPhone rings, the ring also goes straight to the Halos. This happens even if the phone is in the Silent mode and if you're in another room (within the Bluetooth range). NOW we're talking! This originally has been my biggest disappointment when I've discovered that the ring wasn't being transmitted to the Halos, which forced me to constantly hold the phone in the hand when on the move so I could feel the vibration when it rang. With the ring now going directly into my Halos, I can kiss the ring on the phone and the vibration good-bye.

Another tidbit is that the new Battery status widget in the Notifications Center also shows battery levels of the Halos when they're connected. However, in my case their charge level is always at 100% which is not true. TruLink still shows accurate charge levels though.

I agree. Love the ring! My batteries also read 100%, regardless of actual charge.

I think that there is LESS ARTIFACTS in streamed audio, which pleases me. My RIGHT Halo occasionally has momentary dropouts with streamed audio, but the left one doesn't drop out. I'm pretty sure that the dropouts are also FEWER. I like listening to podcasts whilst driving or working.

I like the new SEARCH and the swipe-through multitasker.

I'd like to hear MAIL and TEXT dings sent to the Halos. Well, it gives me something to look forward to in future releases.

Hello,

So you want text message and email alerts sent to your Halos? Do you want them read to you as well? It’s possible now instead of waiting for the next release.

You can enable a feature called Voice Over, or VO for short. To turn it on, go to settings>general> accessability then look for Voice Over and enable it. Or simply ask Siri to turn Voice Over on or off.

VO is used by visually impaired folks and tech geeks. It will read aloud what’s on the screen as you touch it. Note that it changes the interaction. For example, you do a double tap instead of a single tap. Swipe with three fingers left or right to move from page to page, etc. It’s easy to learn. And don’t worry. IF you turn it on then off, your phone settings are not altered so you can go back and forth.

With VO, you can browse the web, read email or facebook while at church, stuck in a meeting or pretend to be listening to your significant other. No one will know since you can navigate your phone while it’s out of sight as you listen on your Halos.

Have fun.

Mail and text dings would be good. But I don't hear any dings!! My iPhone 6 now completely up-to-date with the latest version sends phone call rings directly to my aids BUT no matter how I try I cannot get it to notify me when I specifically request notification of calendar appointments, messages or email. Yes it prints notifications on the lock screen but it will NOT send any kind of audible message; not to my aids (Starkey) and not generally. What am I doing wrong to be punished this way? I set audible notifications, I listen to my choices in "Notifications: Calendar, Mail, Messages, Reminder" but they don't happen. "Why?Why?Why?" she moaned.

That's an excellent request.

But my problem is that even though I set all the notification sounds they never happen when I set them!

For example, I asked for an audible notification for one hour before my dental appointment for which I have to take an antibiotic one hour before.

The ringtone I chose for this kind of calendar notification never sounds; not in the air, not in my aids. Just nothing! Not ever! Nada!

And that's true for mail and messages too. A printed notification appears on the screen but no sound or vibration.

Am I not supposed to be notified audibly? Otherwise why bother setting notifications at all? All those amazing ringtones going to waste?

I MUST be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyone else have this problem solved?

My "work around" is the Apple Watch. The haptic feedback, a gentle tap on the wrist, is terrific for notifications of selected events and is completely private. An added bonus is that our AIDS can be adjusted using the TruLink app on the watch which is a lot less noticeable than doing it from an iPhome. I am a fully convinced fan of the watch with all its many features. My watch collection suffers though.

Hello guys.

does somebody here has somes trouble between his iPad and his iPhone ?

for exemple: if i connect my iPhone to these Halos, everything work very well .

Then if I disable Bluetooth on my iPhone, And enable it on my iPad, only my right Halo gonna work.

If I get back on my iPhone, both Halo will work....

Same thing in reverse order:

--> the first iDevice assigned to my Halos gonna work well, but on the second iDevice assigned to my Halo, my left Halo doesn't work.

If i do "forget halo" on my second iDevice, then assign again to my Halo, the left Halo work back, but??? now it's my first iDevice which has trouble, only the right Halo is working.

Hope someone gonna help me, i tried everything (forgot device, iOS update, started for zero on my iDevice (as a new user), and nothing fixed it...

to conclude: i always need to do "forgot the device" and re-assign them to my Halo to the second iDevice each time to have both Halo work.

iPhone 5 iOS 9.0.2 and iPad air 2 iOS 9.0.2

sorry for my bad english, hope you will understand what i'm saying.

thanks you !

You should be able to pair your Halos to both the iPad and the iPhone without the need to "forget" them while switching between devices. You do need to switch the Bluetooth off on the iOS device you no longer wish to use and on on the iOS device you wish to use now.

This document tells how to pair Halos to iOS devices, including switching between iOS devices:

And this document tells how to troubleshoot Halos when only one connects in the binaural setup:

https://starkeypro.com/pdfs/quicktips/Troubleshooting_Halo_and_Apple_Device_Pair ing.pdf

Hope this helps.

Hello,

If you’re still having pairing/connectivity issues, make sure you have the latest IOS running on your IOS devices. Check with your audi to make sure you have the latest firmware on your Halos. The audi should connect their PC to your Halos to confirm this. AFAIK, there is no other way to tell what firmware version the Halos are running.

You should be able to pair multiple devices to your Halo. I have two iphones and an ipad. What you need to remember to do is turn off the Bluetooth on one device before you turn the Bluetooth on another device. If you forget to do this, odd things may happen such as a single Halo will work but not the other. If this happens, turn off Bluetooth on both devices, open the battery door on both Halos, turn Bluetooth on on the device you plan to use, wait a a minute then close the battery doors. I find it easier to ask Siri to turn the Bluetooth off or on.

HTH and good luck.

Hi.

@vrungel: Yes I know that I need to disable bluetooth each time I want to change iDevice, but it doesn't resolve this problem.

@raserror645: I have already asked to my audi if my Halos were up to date (firmware) and yes, they were up to date, so this is not the problem.

And both iDevice (iPhone 5/iPad Air 2) are on iOS 9.0.2 (i'll be on OS 9.1 today).

Well, I think my audi has something to do in his Inspire Software, because these issues appeared since Starkey exchanged my left Halo for a new one (because it was broken). So maybe my "new" left Halo isn't register with my right Halo, or something like this...
