How to show all available podcast episodes in iTunes 11.2.2

Since I upgraded iTunes to 11.2.2, I can no longer view a list of all available podcast episodes. It used to be available from a right-click on the name of the podcast itself.

For example, I subscribe to PBS Frontline audiocasts. I had deleted an old episode that I wanted to hear again. When the option wasn't available, I unsubscribed, deleted all old files, then re-subscribed. Now only the latest episode appears and there's no option for showing or downloading old episodes. I can't seem to even find the settings that instruct iTunes whether to download "latest" or "all" episodes.

Any idea what's become of these commands? Have they been removed or tucked away in some other place on the interface or menus?

Thanks.

Hey SteveFH,

In iTunes 11.2.2 you can find what was previously called "all available episodes" now in the My Podcasts tab.

How?

(1) In the iTunes Sidebar (the list of folders on the left-hand side that shows folders like Music, Movies, Podcasts, etc.) click on Podcasts.

(2) Just under the iTunes Toolbar click on the My Podcasts tab

(3) Select the podcast name you wish to work with

(4) With the podcast you wish to work with selected, click on the Feeds link in the Title area.

(5) Click the cloud icon of each podcast episode you wish to download.

Note: Some of the names I've given to things in iTunes may be my own and you may need to reread these instructions if I've gotten the specific names of things wrong, such as 'Title area', etc. But you should be able to follow along well enough.

Best Wishes! 🙂

I accidentally found the list of available podcast episodes (both downloaded to my Mac & not yet downloaded -- which are indicated with the cloud/down arrow icon) by selecting

  1. Podcasts (sidebar)
  2. My Podcasts (main tab on top)
  3. The Podcast in question (middle column, which is filled with duplicates and is sorted by date subscribed(?))
  4. Feed (sub-tab on upper right side).

I haven't found a replacement for the old setting for which episodes to download. I just manually click on all the download buttons.

The new UI is awful and the new UX is worse... The List view was most useful to me, but most of the functionality is now only accessible via the other brain-dead "smart" views.

I long for the days of just manually managing files... Then it would at least do what I want, rather than the random downloads and magically resurrected/undeletable episodes that Apple thinks are desirable. :-/

Regards,

Al

PS. Guess I should type faster. :-)

I agree with the comments made previous. It IS a drag to have to figure out a workaround with each update to iTunes. Glad to see this fix, was flumoxed since I use List view unless I HAVE to do a workaround. Whatever happened to "It just Works!"

The mystery download, re-appearing of deleted podcasts still persists. I think I have deleted one, and it reappears on iPod, even though it does not show in the List view. Ipod 4 can't download on it's own, When attempting to download several podcasts, a crash is not uncommon, nor is it assured that a podcast will appear in the List though it was shown to be downloading. Maybe it crashed when I wasn't looking, who knows!

Thanks, Hater, for the fix. I'd add that you have to have clicked on one podcast episode before hitting CTRL+A in order to make it work. The new way to manage them makes me believe that whoever is creating the new versions either never uses podcasts or is strategically trying to eliminating them.

I'd also agree that the best way to manage them is through list, which is pretty boring looking but effective. The "My Podcasts" is a totally infuriating menu, unsearchable, in no particular order.

I'd love for someone to just make them function like albums in the Music menu (as they had in the past).
