Apple ID is linked to an inactive hotmail account.

I have an issue, I recently sold my old phone to someone but they're having issues with the setup. Apparently they need my AppleID Password to finish the setup, however the AppleID that it's asking for is my old one, which I've forgotten the password to and the email address that was linked to it, is in active.

When I tried to get the password reset email sent to my old email address, it just doesn't send... there's no email in the inbox at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there any possible way to fix this or would I have to call Apple?

Thanks.

Similar problem - I use ancient MacBook Pro (2006) plus a newer MacBook Air (around 2013), both as up-to-date as can be. Also, have iPhone.

iPhone sends and receives via my 3 email accounts (including SoftBank phone address) no problem.

But 2 x PC's not receiving Hotmail which is inactive but does not say so - only not doing its thing.

Yesterday in Mail Online/offline menu the 'Hotmail' was light gray (usually means kaput) but today after a good night's rest all three choices are full black - no gray. But ..... Hotmail definitely still not awake.

What to do?

Float test?
