Will an iPad 2 be upgradable to iOS 8?

I have an iPad first gen that only was upgradable to iOS 5.11. I am thinking about getting a refurbished 2nd Gen. Will that be upgradable to iOS 8 when it comes out this Fall, or should I look for a newer refurb gen like a 3rd or Air?

You know ... you shouldn't be "jumping to unfounded conclusions" ... because a lot of other users here on this forum are getting good results in solving their issues. Instead of concluding you can't do anything and blaming Apple, you should follow the lead of other users and buckle down to finding the solution that works for you. AND NOTE ... Apple didn't change a thing and these people are having good results after their initial problems!

Ipad2 has major problems with iOS 8

Okay I have Ipod touch 5G with IOS 8.0.2 and having major issues with crashing apps, mainly Facebook slow to load, crashes. Also my copy and paste keeps getting stuck on Copy - whatever I copy stays in there even after trying to copy something new. I tried rebooting - fixed the copy issue only temporarily. Apps still slow and crashing. Plenty of space left 13 GB clear. This all has happened since the IOS 8 update, no problems prior at all. Even my keyboard types sluggish at times, never had that before. What do you suggest? I am reading all over the internet that IOS 8 is the problem everyone having trouble. My relatives with IPHONE are having same issues.

Apple is NOT here on these forums. It doesn't comment here or respond here ... because these forums are EXCLUSIVELY "users helping other users" and nothing more. This forum is NOT Apple Tech Support. If you wish to talk to Apple, then you need to go to ...

Because of all the unhappy users, I have not done the upgrade. That to ask (in response to your post Oct 6, 2014 10:10 AM) If I restore my iPad2 to "new" [ I have IOS 7.1.2 ] and then perform an upgrade to 8.0.2 on my "new" iPad2, will I be able to restore my full backup from iTunes & will it include my 7.1.2 OS? In case I do encounter difficulties with a "new" 8.0.2 "baseline"?

It's really too bad. I mentioned that this could be the 'beginning of the end' for Apple's dominance in the marketplace while at the store trying to get some help with this. They had a blank stare and was clearly more pre-occupied with making sales than helping loyal customers. By the way, does anyone else think this Star Traveler drank a little too much of the Kool Aid?... A bit too militant with the Forum Police Officer comments...
