DLink DIR-625 Router Firmware Update to 1.07 May Break Safari Compatibility

Just a heads up that updating firmware on this router to latest version 1.07 may break Safari compatibility. I downloaded the update using Safari, but when I tried to upload it from the Desktop using Safari 2.0.4 (419.3), Safari crashed. So, I uploaded using Firefox 1.5.0.6. Firefox completed the upload and the update installed flawlessly. I can login to the router configuration pages from Firefox. But I cannot log in from Safari. I am able to reach the login page but after typing my password, error message appears: "The action can not complete because the network connection seems to be down." So long as you use Firefox, you will be OK, but we should be able to use Safari, according to the DLink manual and website.

I've noticed similar anomalies as well. I've upgraded the DIR-625 to v.1.08 to attempt to address some connection problems with a MBP.

But some of the pages don't display properly in Safari. For example, I performed the update, etc., and then went in to view the configuration. Pages such as the wireless clients that are connected were blank, but even more disconcerting were the Port Forwarding, etc., pages and information. Those all showed blank!

I thought I had blown the config and was ready to reload from the backup. However, I went back in with Firefox and all was fine.

For the time being, I'll continue to use FF for monitoring and configuration.

AKMacAddict,

You're correct that firmware 1.08 now allows one to login on the DIR-625 in Safari. In fact, I am now able to see and configure everything in Safari, a pleasant change. If I understand your problem, it may have been caused by not saving your configurations prior to installation, as this update, differing from prior updates, returned all settings to default.

Best wishes from the Hoosier State.
