I just imported some pictures from my digital camera, but the thumbail photo is different from the actual picture. Any ideas how to get the thumbnail to match the photo?

How did you import it? Some software will create a preview image. OS X will just look at the actual image and generate the icon if there isn't a preview image already attached to the file.
I imported it using Iphoto. Just plugged it in and I photo imported it from my Sony camera. I've done this before without any problems.
Make sure in Preferences - Advanced - Importing that you check Copy Item to the iPhoto library. If that is already checked there is something else you must have changed.
Are you plugging you camera in to download. Bad idea if you are. Direct import from card is the way to go but you probably know that already.
I got it resolved. I had to Rebuild Thumbnails. If you need to do this it is easy. Quit IPhoto, Hold down Command and Option. Reopen IPhoto. When screen comes up choose Rebuild Thumbnails, then hit Repair. It will take awhile if you have lots of pictures. But it goes through two different processes and then Iphoto reopens and all is well again!
Good glad its fixed. That tip also applies to Aperture BTW. The Libraries are now the same in iPhoto & Aperture, infact you canuse one library for both.
