Desktop midi file no quick look play on desktop anymore - anyone got a solution as mac says it's not a priority to support it again

Hi - god this is irritating. Before mavericks I used to be able to space bar click on a midi file on my desktop to play its audio whilst I have Logic Pro projects up and check out audio fit for my arrangements. It was convenient and very useful for a midi enthusiast. Now midi files are not supported in the maverick update although I'm told it would be a very simple fix, mac has no plans to fix the issue. Does anyone have a 1 click fix solution for me to return to this ability? I have tried opening all files using flip4mac but it doesn't automatically play the file which is a fiddle during Logic Pro play back and I'd like to return to the Lion ability of just space bar opening midi which automatically played the midi file. Any help would be appreciated guys keeping in mind I.m not tech savvy on the programming stakes so you'd have to spell it out for me.

I've created a quicklook plugin to solve this using past versions of Quicktime 7.6.6, Audio.qlgenerator, and Music.qldisplay from OS X Mountain Lion.

Forewarning, the reason this was taken out of OS X is due to a security vulnerability it caused; while not a major security flaw, Apple opted to discontinue midi preview, I'm guessing because it was relatively infrequently used when considering your average user. For me, it is worth the risk to have midi previews.

Here is a zip file containing the files necessary

File name: midi-ql.zip

1. Move `midiQL.qlgenerator` to `~/Library/QuickLook`

2. Move `Audio.qlgenerator` to `/System/Library/QuickLook`

3. Move `Music.qldisplay` to `/System/Library/Frameworks/Quartz.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/QuickLookUI. framework/Versions/A`

4. Open `/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app` and run `qlmanage -r && qlmanage -r cache`

5. Preview audio and midi to your heart's content!

I cannot believe this has not been reimplemented in Yosemite. If Apple think I am going to spend £6,000+ on a new Mac Pro when they do not cater for the professional market anymore, they have another thing coming!

I loved owning a Mac Pro and never had any issue until post Snow Leopard, which is the best OS I have ever used.

I do not understand why they would remove features like this, it just alienates pro users. I have no confidence in Apple anymore and honestly do not expect them to fix this bug along with several others, they probably don't care either.

I am honestly thinking of switching back to a dedicated Windows machine with Cubase.

If you are that unhappy then I highly recommend doing what you suggested.... rather than just talking about doing so in a User Supported forum... as frankly there is no one here, to whom such a decision, would matter.

Why doesn't Apple answer the questions that we ask about Logic Pro?
