It is a mid 2012 model - I have now registered it under my account. I had tried the net recovery but it failed and I sent an email (used email dan.gutridge@gmail.com to send the report last week). I am running the OSX lion install again to get a better message. Is there a place that I can download a boot image? I have a developer ID but the only image I can find to burn says processor not supported (version 10.6 build 10a432_user_dvd)

You can download the bootfile from Apple App Store, as long as they have record of your purchase or upgrade, then save it to USB drive (make sure it has enough capacity). The file is part of the Lion o/s, but it "evaporates" during install unless you save the boot first. Keep it in case you need to reboot in the future. There should be a walk through on it somewhere in the support files. Good luck!
