Logic Pro 9 - Mute Automation Defective

Hi there,

Sometimes (yes, only sometimes, seemingly at random) when I automate "mute" in certain tracks, it does not playback correctly what I have automated. For instance, it may unmute 3 beat early or 2 beats late. There is not user error, and it only occurs occasionally, but essentially ruins my workflow and in some cases my entire project because I cannot get it to bounce correctly.

There's no screenshot or further explaination needed, though I can provide one if for some reason this is unclear--it is very straight-forward. I even see the mute button being "pressed" early, even though I can see that the automation shouldn't kick in until further along in the track. I have no external midi devices connected, so there is no issue there.

Has anybody else experienced this bug? If so, I would really like some help. It is causing many problems.

Thanks,

Jay

As an experiment I set up a test project with several different Automated mutes in an audio track.. set to mute exactly on a bar and unmute at the beginning of the next bar.. Then put the project in loop mode and let it play repeatedly for 15 mins and not once did it miss the mute or mute/un-mute at the wrong time..... I also did the same thing with a project using multiple tracks and plugins and again couldn't recreate your issue.

So... I'm wondering if the mute is being affected by any plugins you may be using.. like a Mastering/EQ plugin that reads ahead

Do a test yourself with an audio track that doesn't have any plugins at all and see if you can replicate your issue.
