iBooks is using "Sort Name" and not "Name". How do I fix this?
I need help.
I have sorted through all my ebooks, changing them to epub, editing metadata to have correct title, author, and even series (title and order) using a program called Calibre.
When I sent these to my iTunes-iBooks it chooses to sort them by Sort Name (not the Name, but an entirely different field). I was able to mass delete Sort Artist, but not Sort Name. It is currently putting the series information in as Sort Name.
As you can reasonably understand, I want to KEEP the series information as part of the metadata, but not have iTunes sorted by this, as it makes it impossible to find books by the title or "Name" of the book.
Is there any way to force iTunes and iBooks to sort by Name only?
Is there a way to delete Sort Name information without losing Series information as a part of the data?
Additionally, I have close to 400 ebooks- I REALLY don't want to have to manually delete the Sort Name from each of these and honestly I'm afraid to lose the series data which took forever to input correctly.
Off-topic: Can we just mention how so much could be solved if iTunes didn't treat books as if they were tracks of a CD? It's an Author not an Artist, they could include handy fields for Series rather than putting it in Sort Name, etc. I love the compatability between all my devices, but iTunes really should beef up their love for readers.
