Why am I being prompted to sign in to Mevio.com

For the past few day when I refresh podcasts via iTunes on my Mac, I get a prompt to log into www.mevio.com, an organization I've never dealt with before. Is this something new with the latest version of iTunes?

I would say not so much that the problem is removing old podcast but that MEVIO changed their policy and then went out of business. They seem to have marked all of their podcasts as "need subscription" and then shut up shop failing to kill their podcast feeds in a friendly manner..

I have scads of podcast subscriptions that have run their course and the podcast authors have moved on to somewhere else (including a few NASA podcasts that have died....... somehow). None of those podcasts has caused the nagging that the MEVIO subscriptions have caused and the unconscionable interference with users' podcasts is unacceptable. I'm sorry you went out of business. That is no reason to inflict any bitterness you have on subscribers. As mentioned, none of my other "dead" podcasts has caused the nagging, inconvenience, or aggravation that the MEVIO offerings have done. On top of that, there's no need to have caused it. MEVIO could have faded quietly into "dead podcast land" as so many other have done.

In case it comes in handy, after a year or so of this nonsense I did finally happen upon the single podcast causing all the unwarranted fuss. In case it helps someone else out of MEVIO purgatory, my MEVIO podcast that was causing hourly, repetitive login dialogs was called "1st Look".
