iPhone discharge a lot while plugged in!

You should never leave anything pluged in overnight to charge:

A: it's a fire risk.

B: it could overcharge and damage the battery and therefore reduce the capacity.

Also to get more light on the situation:

Has the device been jail broken?

Do you have the brightness at 100%?

Do you have Bluetooth on?

Do you have email setting set to fetch?

Hmm :S just to clarify it is your iPhone 5s?

I could understand an iPhone loosing battery life, but not a recent phone like the 5s or even the 4s, my 4s gets reasonable run times seeing its 3 years old and is running iOS 7.

Does it run quite warm when your not doing much o the device, because it could be an app?

Neither of these statements is correct. There is absolutely no risk in leaving a device or computer plugged in overnight or all the time if desired. My iPad is plugged in most of the time. I charge my iPhone every night.

Keeping a device plugged in cannot cause the battery to overcharge. The battery is designed to stop drawing a charge when it is at 100%.

Depends what battery and what you are charging.

30-pin chargers have cought fire before.

Also the 12 watt chargers can get pretty hot and if you accidentally cover it, it does become a risk.

Also it is not good leaving battery's at 100%.

I'm sorry but you are not correct. Again, I pretty much never unplug my iPad. It is an iPad 1. I charge my iPhone 4 nightly. There is no danger that the battery will overcharge, and no danger in keeping a device plugged in for as long as you wish.

Leaving the device plugged in all of the time could damage the battery.

The heat from the charger plug can get very hot and therefore a fire risk. (May not be a big one but still a risk)

I'm not going to debate this with you. Do you think Apple goes around their stores every night unplugging everything? You need to read up on Lithium batteries:

If the battery percentage is going down while you are charging it, you need to go back to the Apple Store and let them know this. You do have it plugged into a wall outlet, correct? Not using a USB cable attached to a sleeping computer?

If it is plugged into a wall outlet, it should charge to 100% and stay there.

No they have a switch which cuts off power suply to the shop floor.

I think my point has been proven.

I would also like to point out that I said "anything" not anything nesseserily to do with an Apple device.
