Does Garageband remix music well? Help!

I would like to edit some music specifically remix it into more of dance and club sound. I have tried using garageband but without success. I realize that garageband and all of it's jam packs are more or less for people who want to write/create their own music. I just want to take a song from say Panic! at the disco and mix it into sexyback. I want to alter the beat to speed the song up and slow it down. Is there better software out there for macs that can meet these needs? Help!!!!! Thanks!

Hi, let's see if I can help...

Garageband CAN mix music, BUT, it's gonna take trial and error, and also skill.

What you can do is make a basic audio track (not a software track) in garageband, find a song file from iTunes, and drag it to the empty track. Now, you've got one of your favourite songs in a garageband project, ready to work with other tracks that you add.

Here's the tricky part. When mixing in different songs, it is most likely that different songs will have different tempos. So, you have to adjust the tempo of the song alrdy in garageband to match the tempo of the next song you're going to add in. You can adjust the tempo of the first song by using the little digital display screen in the mid-bottom.

Once you've got the tempo thing down, it's pretty easy from there. cmd+g will toggle the snap-to-grid option. cmd+t will split a selected track where the red-line-thing is. With all this, I think you should be able to accomplish what you need.

So, yes, Garageband CAN remix music, BUT, there are probably way better programs that'll do this more easily. I don't know any, and I'd like to know some good mixing apps, too!

hope this helped

peace
