The Screen on my Macbook 4.1 Intel Core 2 Duo Went Black

Display Screen Blackness on MacBook October 2008

I have backed everything up to an external and have been able to hook the laptop to an external monitor everything seems to be wrorking fine but my laptop screen is still black.

So far I:

1

Took battery in and out. Firstly I, disconnected the power cable. Then I took out the battery. Pushed on the power button for five seconds and then replaced the battery and power.

This worked but then I shutdown my computer and when I powered it on again I was back to square 1.

2

Set System Preference Energy Saver Sleep Mode to never. This had no bearings on the screen.

3

Safemode boot

4

Brightness adjustment. Moving F1/F2 up and down I got a temporary screen.

There hasn't been any flickering. It's either on/off.

I've been able to transfer files to an external using a torch (arduous work).

When I power it on it does tend to be noisy.

The power tone can still be heard.

Would a screen replacement be the best thing?

I had this black or blank screen happen to me. It came back a few times at first then blank again etc etc.

I felt this important to note. I was working in a room that was extremely humid even with the AC running. When I got my macbook pro back into a normal enviroment it came back to life and is still back with no issues at all.

I'm sure that won't be the case for a lot of people but I happened to my mac. Just wanted to share.
