Siri rude comments after responses and incompetence.

I ask "Time?" It responds

"6:05 am. Way too early"

How do I stop these remarks? I find them very rude.

Another thing, a few times I ask for the time, and it says "I found "time" in wikipedia. would you like me to . . .

Yesterday, I told it to call someone I call every day via Siri. It said (all 20 times I asked) that the name is not in the addressbook, but, natch, it is. I had to stop the car and dial it myself.

So many mistakes. It's easier to do it myself than with that thing.

Is there a way to make it work? One year, I hoped it would learn but it doesn't. Am I doing something wrong?

Growl.

Well, I'm glad you like and are amused by the Siri responses. Apparently you have a different sense of humor than I do and that's okay.

In my book, it's okay for me to expect polite answers from an employee--and that's what Siri is to me.

When I ask the time, I just want the time without commentary. And I should be able to have that choice.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to stop the commentary?

Thanks.

No, you cannot directly modify Siri's responses.

Again, if you don't like the option, don't use it.

Siri's not an 'employee'. It is a non-sentient, computer program that has a database of responses, that get increased as Siri is used.

Maybe try saying, "Siri, be more polite. I don't like your rude commentary'. Let me know how far that gets you.

I agree. I have a standing alarm at 4:30. I wake up every day at this time to be at work by 6:45 at the latest. On the weekends, when I'm trying to sleep in and ask Siri for the time so I know just how late it is, she insists on saying, "it's 7am, way too early." No it's not, it's sleeping in late, for me. And very annoying for her to say that. She says that all the way up to 9am. Ridiculous!

Thanks Meg St._Clair.

I like the concept of Siri, but I also like this non-sentient computer program to respond as a non-sentient computer program, instead of pretending to be an amusing human being! (Thus not wanting to be expected to speak to it as if it is an employee, or to tell it to be polite. I recognize it is a computer program not an employee!

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I figured there was a way to alter Siri's behavior with some code words -- just as I have heard I can tell it to "learn" how to pronounce names etc.

I gather that most people like its comments and remarks and I think that's fine. I'm in favor of choices and customizing. Just like I prefer shoes that fit me instead of my next door neighbor. Just as I believe no one should force a religion on anyone. I figure it's okay to try to find a way to get Siri to work _my_ way.

Welcome to the World of Apple. Apple has never been especially big on customization. The idea is that they give you what you didn't now you needed, not what you think you want. 🙂
