Keynote 6.2 drops images when moving files between devices - every time

I've bene using Keyniote 6 throuh 6.2 extensively and I've found that saving works perfectly, but if you copy a file from one device to another - via any method (USB Key, Wetransfer, SendBiGFile, a hard disk, even AirDrop between two Mac's, it always drops a few, but not all, images.

You see this when you open the new presentation, you get no warning errors because the thumbnails are preserved, but you'll get a "X" graphic in the main display.

There is a workaround for this which is to ZIP the file first before transferring it. If you use Compress from the Apple shortcut menu to make a ZIP file before you do the move then it is always OK, but if you don't, it will always drop a few pictures. Obviously this is on a reasonably large file - say 50 slides or more.

The workaround is a little cumbersome, so a fix would be really appreciated.

Keynote 6.2 drops images when moving files between devices - every time

This is not normal behaviour for Keynote.

Iv never encountered this issue when exchanging Keynote files between clients and colleges using many different Macs.

I am aware that a few posts have indicated a similar is issue and a number of them have fixed this using the following repair:

  1. Perform all the steps in the order listed:
Remove Keynote version 6.5, you must use an application removal tool for this procedure to work,Appcleaner is free,
  2. Empty the trash,
  3. Shut Down the Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down),
  4. Wait 10 seconds, then press the power button,
  5. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key,
  6. release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple screen
  7. start up will take a few minutes longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair,
  8. Restart the Mac normally, (don’t hold down any keys during startup),
  9. Install Keynote from the Mac App Store.
