Can I update my macbook pro early 2011 to use bluetooth 4.0
Is there any way that I'm able to update my MacBook so I'm able to use Bluetooth 4.0?

Yes, but did you succeed sending anything from/to iPhone ?
So what is the oldest MacBook model people have successfully replaced the airport card to get handoff working?
Early 2011 MacBook Pro.
Opened it up; 661-5867 on the front, and BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX on the back.
It seems like the upgrade wasn't worth it. No sign of Handoff in Yosemite DP 3.
No more Handoff/AirDrop display in System Profiler, option gone from System Preferences->General 😟
Can you confirm that it works or not after DP3 ?.
Tx
Maybe a .plist compatibilty file to modify.
I hope there is. Bluetooth system report doesn't mention Continuity or Handsoff anymore.
I don't have the option, but then again I haven't updated my chipset in my Mac yet.
I'm pretty sure a .plist listing compatible Mac somewhere in Yosemite can be found.
Thanks a lot dude.
I ordered and installed that same part on my 2011 MBP (15") and it still shows the old chipset in the bluetooth section of the system profile, and no BLE or other features are enabled. Any pointers?
Cause you've been sent BCM94331PCIEBT4AX, not BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX.
Where can I buy this piece?
