MacBook Air
The hole is so small that you can't plug the headphone jack into it, I tried various headphones and none worked. They all work fine on all my other apple products but not the macbook air. The headphone hole is much smaller than the other devices. Any suggestions?

The AIR, like all other Macs and nearly 100% (all actually) of notebooks have a 1/8th " stereo mini-jack for standard headphones.
check your headphones, MOST professional headphones now come with a LARGER jack that unscrews OFF the smaller one.
Youd have to go back to the early 1980s to find a permanent huge headphone jack on a pair of headphones (almost).
I just have the standard headphones, the ones that came with my IPhone 5S, the hole on the macbook air is really small, I have tried to push several different headphones in and they just won't go in and don't work. I matched the earphone hole with my other apple devices and it is much smaller.

then youre looking at the wrong hole.
any Iphone headphones will fit ANY macbook AIr headphone jack, ....so thats impossible. 😉
those are EAR BUDS, not headphones that came with your Iphone
I have the 11 inch MacBook Air and the hole is next to the power cord attachment like the phone above, but it is so much smaller than the hole on my other Apple devices. I can plug my headphones to another Mac computor and IPhone etc but they won't go into the hole on the Air, just too small of an opening.
I have exact same problem.... funny thing is it worked for past three year...it' only today all of a sudden it stopped working... I can't insert the pin into the audio jack all the through. that sucked! Does it require someone at apple support to be looked at or I can fix it on my own?
I thought I was having the same problem but I just had to push my headphones in harder. I couldn't fit my headphone jack in all the way but with a bit more pressure it works fine. Hope this helps x
See the "headphone port" section of this article:

The headphone port on the MacBook Air accepts a 3.5mm standard plug, just as other Apple devices do.
What do you mean your headphones don't fit your MacBook Air? Please provide more information.

Then there must be something wrong with my device, the hole is much smaller then the other devices. Guess I will have to take it to an apple store. Thanks
LOL, I wish it was that, but the hole has an icon of headphones next to it, clearly it's not the wrong hole. Don't see any other holes either.

again, its impossible.
There may be something blocking the audio output port (broken jack?). Bring the MBA in to an Apple store genius bar and have them look at it. The evaluation will be FREE.
Ciao.
