No trackpad or keyboard on Windows installer

Hi, yet another problem again with bootcamp.

When I boot the installer from my memory stick I get to the language selection and my trackpad an also keyboard are unresponsive. I've tried many different suggestions such as going through them all one by one, making a new administator account and also ticking the first 2 option then the 2nd and finally the third while quitting between the steps.

Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.

You may have to create a unattend:filename to allow the installation to proceed. The other method would be to use usbdebug:hostname method.

This can be done on the USB stick that you are using for installation. Look for AutoUnattend.xml file.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm suppose to do with that method, I ain't the best with that sort of stuff, a little explanation will be greatly appreciated. 🙂

The link has the explanation of how it works and the steps necessary. It is an involved process, but if you want to try it, it may help you get Windows on your MAC.

Another option, that may be worth exploring is using Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033 rather than 5.1 and see if it works better in your case.

I am very lost with .xml file, I have no idea what I am doing I'm afraid and I tried the older boot camp support files but to no avail. This is getting more and more frustrating every attempt...

are you 100% sure that your flash drive is ONLY usb2, this would be the first time ever that usb2 only didn't work

Yeah my other memory stick is a USB 3 and it wouldn't recognise at all when i tried to boot the partition, and this one is being read and taking me to the installer but just haven't got any mouse or keyboard connectivity when I start it.

I have a 13" 2012 rMBP on which I am going to test Unattended installation using a USB2 Cruzer SanDisk and report back with my results.

This is a very concise example, but it works on a PC which has nothing else and assumes a single drive.

are you installing w7? if so, try an ISO from here, and which exact usb flash drive are you using? we have multiple retina 12 13s etc never had this issue

I don't think it's the XML file if the installers booting since it's starting up but just without the required drivers since the screen resolution is also a bit erratic, and turbo star, is's just a £10 one i got from Argos. Just came in a bag and is called an Integral, although the description said it was USB 2.

Can you post the output of sudo fdisk /dev/rdisk? where "?" is the disk your are trying to install Bootcamp on. Typically it should be '0', but you can also run diskutil list.

I want to test the unattended file and see how it works on my test machine.

This is what I have on my machine which already has Bootcamp. The fourth partition is where Windows should go.
