No trackpad or keyboard on Windows installer

Hi, yet another problem again with bootcamp.

When I boot the installer from my memory stick I get to the language selection and my trackpad an also keyboard are unresponsive. I've tried many different suggestions such as going through them all one by one, making a new administator account and also ticking the first 2 option then the 2nd and finally the third while quitting between the steps.

Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.

Based on your screen shot of /dev/disk0 and the Install starting up, the disk partitioning seems to be correct. I assume you have only one disk. If the Installer is trying to install it on the USB, then it will fail. The USB is readable, otherwise the installer would not even start, so a USB2/USB3 issue is not a logical conclusion that I can draw.

Since the installer cannot be made to go to the disk selection screen, loading files should be all it should do.

There should be a autorun.inf file in the root of the USB directory, which looks like this.

[AutoRun.Amd64]

open=setup.exe

icon=setup.exe,0

[AutoRun]

open=sources\sperr32.exe x64

icon=sources\sperr32.exe,0

Can you change it to

[AutoRun.Amd64]

open=setup.exe /unattend:AutoUnattend.xml

icon=setup.exe,0

[AutoRun]

open=sources\sperr32.exe x64

icon=sources\sperr32.exe,0

and see if it makes any difference.

I will try and create a full unattended .xml file and post a link to it.

I'm running into the exact same problem with a 14" MacBook Air 2014 model.

Gotta say, its quite aggravating seeing that this thread is allowed to run this long and Apple support still did not step in to resolve the problem. Apple having complete knowledge on hardware they make should be responsible for having Boot Camp Assistant download the exact correct driver for the particular hardware.

Seeing end user has to troubleshoot this far and deep is quite unlike Apple. I have also been a long time Mac user and have used BootCamp many times in the past never having this kind of problems. I hope Apple's quality standard don't follow Steve Jobs to wherever he is now....

Great, really great.

I've been trying too to install Windows 7 for days and I failed miserably again and again, following every method suggested here and there.

Until I read this post. It didn't work at first, but after I deleted my BootCamp partition and started all over again from scratch, there it was: no more locked screen from the Windows installer, Set up just did its job and the Magic Mouse worked quite normally right away. YES it works.

Thousand thanks to turbostar, your advice really made my day 🙂

turbostar, I have the same problem and tried your method: I bought a new USB 2.0 Stick and downloaded the new ISO. However the problem remains the same... I'm stuck on the first screen of the windows installation process.

boot camp does not give an option to delete the partition, it's only possible to create a new one (from the already reduced Macintosh HD).

Disk utility shows the windows partition as "free space". I tried to create a partition on this free space with disk utility, but that also does not work.

Any idea what I could do?
