Macbook screen cloudy

My macbook screen has gone cloudy-like. It is very bad right now, half the screen is birghter than the other half. I know it is not the backlight, i belive it is something to do with the screen itself. The only thing i did to it was clean the screen with water. The water was in an empty windowx bottle. so there way have been some windex in there. I bought the extended 3 year applecare plan. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

Try using a microfiber cloth wrapped around the tip of your finger and buffing in small circles with a decent amount of pressure applied (not enough that you would break the LCD). Keep buffing the same circular spot for a little bit.

The first time I cleaned my screen (using only water and a microfiber cloth) I wound up with a cloudy residue over almost the entire screen. I started carefully (but with some pressure) buffing in small circles, because it seemed that the residue was movie as I buffed it, and it went away. It took a little bit but it hasn't returned since.

In the future I would suggest the following:

1) Don't use water from a spray bottle. Spraying water at your screen is not a good idea, just dampen a cloth.

2) Don't use empty Windex bottle. Windex contains ammonia which is very bad for all kinds of optical coatings, including the type on your screen. Even the residue from an empty Windex bottle could be enough to mar the coating.

Hope the screen issue gets resolved. Good luck.
