car USB port connect-disconnect with iPod touch

I have a Chrysler 200 with a stock Apple USB port and an iPod touch. Every time for the past 2 weeks it would connect then immediately disconnect when I plugged it in and tried to play. I thought it may be a broken cord situation, but have tried 3 different USB cables and all seem to do the same. I have tried the same iPod in another car with a stock Apple USB port and experienced the exact same problem. So, I tried updating and charging on my computer and it worked no problem. Could it be the version of iOS 6.1.6? If so, is there a way I can revert back to the old OS? This is killing my Apple experience, and I can no longer use my iPod touch in my car which was the best feature IMO. Please help/advise. Thank you!!!

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple. SOmetimes and iOS update does break compatibility.

Have you went to Chrysler's support site?

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Resetting the car system

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Hi lllaass, again thanks for your help. I called Apple support and they had never heard of this problem. I am certain that there are no missing, bent or corroded contacts as it is able to update to iTunes and charge on my HP. In my opinion I'd say with 90% certainty I think it's the iOS update breaking compatibility.....it has to be....it doesn't work on two different cars that have an Apple USB jack yet it works on my PC......I'm pretty ******, and Apple recommended I return the iPod and get a replacement for $99....but what good will that do ? Won't this same issue happen with any iPod with the recent update? I think Apple needs to create a patch to fix this bug, otherwise I can't really use this. The only other option that MAY work is if I use the headphone jack and plug the iPod into the stereo.....but why should I be forced to buy more attachments because there is some software bug.

Hi lllaass,

So this morning I tried resetting the car setting, nothing happened. Last night I restored it to factory settings and still nothing, I also tried to reset the iOS device.....so far nothing. Not sure if I mentioned that I now am using a rental while my car gets repaired (Hyundai genesis) that also has an Apple USB port and this still happens. So I am totally lost. I feel like since it was updated this has been the case, connect/disconnect...repeat.....the only one I haven't tried is restore to new iOS device.....but I have serious doubts that will change anything. Could this be a bug with the iPod touch? It's happening in two different cars, and any USB wire I use doesn't matter, yet it connects fine to my PC to update. At this point I've resigned myself to only being able to use it in the gym.....I know it's not the actual port that's defective because this is happening in two different cars.......any further advice would be much appreciated. thx...T

I have the same issue. iPod touch will n to maintain connection to two different vehicles. Apple has replaced the iPod touch with a new product, but still the same issue. in my case the iPod will play for a period of time then the image of the of the album/performer on the screen will freeze the song will advance and ultimately the iPod will freeze. Have to shut off the iPod to clear the issue.
