Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I Can't use iDVD with my actual version of Mac OS X

I don't know why Apple does´t keep on with the things that it has nicer than others (iWeb, iDVD, Share photos in the previous way, etc.) and try to go on with others like iwork or numbers when majority people use Office (even in the iPad now).

I know that the latest iMac and MacBooks don't have dvd, but many people still use it.

I Can't use iDVD with my actual version of Mac OS X. Of course I can share my videos with iCloud, but the quality is lower and Grandfathers and so on prefer watch then on TV.

You already have the programs so, why don't continue with them, further more when they were very different and very nicer and better than de Microsoft's ones?

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.3 and both iLive 06 and iLive 08.

I can't install iLive 06 and although the system let me installing iLive 08, the icon appears with a forbidden signal.

A warning appears that says that PowerPC applications can´t run on my actual software but iDVD.app 7.0 does, but this latest isn't in the app store (at least in the spanish one).

Thank for your answer:

You can, I believe, still run iMovie 6 in Mavericks - many users, including me, prefer it.

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer.

Nevertheless it's a shame that Apple does´t carry on developing iDVD

You said in other discussion: "Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD."

But all of that ways have a huge loss of quality and if you want to keep your more special memories in high definition, they aren't the solution.

Tanks for your help. I hope Apple could think about the possibility of "recover" the things that stop developing and were awesome and different from the others

I have ultra high-speed Internet ( 88MB ). I much prefer to make DVDs. When I make a DVD people will watch it. If I post it to the Internet they usually do not.

I use iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 with OS 10.9.3 It works great !
