Just started a few minutes ago out of the blue. I touch Podcast icon to open. It opens...but only for a few seconds then closes. However, when I double tap home button it shows that I am running the podcast app and that I am in the middle of listening to a Rachel Maddow podcast. Has Maddow taken control of my device? Have restarted several times with no luck. Running Podcast 2.1.2 (586) and iOS 7.1.1
Same exact issue that started at almost exactly the same time. Seems to be related to syncing.
iCloud issue?
Perhaps, BUT I don't synch and never have PLUS,I don't use iCloud for Podcasts.
I am having the same problem -- I am assuming its a problem in iCloud too.
I started having this problem this afternoon also. I sync "most important" info to iCloud.
Same here - in NZ. Podcasts just closes after about 1 second. Very annoying!!

Putting my phone in "Airplane" mode and then restarting the wi-fi connection seems to have done the trick.
Worldwide problem with all iDevices: iPads, iPad minis, iPhones, iPod touches.
Fix:
put in airplane mode
open app
count to 10
turn off airplane mode whilst in app by swiping up ...

I just upgraded to iOS7 on an iPhone 4 and am having this issue. I tried the airplane mode work-around but that didn't do anything.
FYI, I deleted the app and immediately re-downloaded it. That worked, plus it didn't delete my existing podcasts.
Podcast window won't stay open.
