So with this news report, thoughts on what to do next?

"With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture," said Apple in a statement provided to The Loop. "When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS."

Try enable the sidebar in Photos. Your Projects should be there in a folder.

That's why I'm not using Photos and decided to stick with Aperture. I made a disk image just in case my hd decides do die. Also not in the mood to move to El Capitan. If someday I have no choice to keep using Mavericks/Yosemite, I'll slipt the HD in two partitions and keep a working system that suports Aperture. Also got a spare i7 macmini and an i5 MacBook Pro on ebay just in case. It's like a good insurance ^^
