DHCP setup on Time Capsule

Hi

I need to connect a Mitel IP Phone to a Time Capsule that is currently setup on Bridge Mode and working well. The TC gets its internet connection from a ADSL modem/router.

When I switch the TC to DHCP/NAT mode I get a Double NAT error.

When I switch to DHCP Only I get an Invalid Value error stating "Sharing a range of IP addresses using DHCP Only requires manually configuring your WAN IP address. If your ISP gives you a range of static IP addresses, you should manually configure your base station with the first IP address and distribute the rest via DHCP."

Any ideas how to resolve?

Your ADSL router distributes IP addresses in a specific range. The Time Capsule is usually configured to use a range beginning with 10.0.1.2. Most likely, you need to change the Time Capsule's range to match that of the DSL router which is most likely starts at 192.168.0.2.

Please plug the phone into the AE. Does it get an IP address?

If it fails at the AE it will fail at the TC.

If it does get an IP at the AE.. please go back to the room and disconnect the TC from EOP adapter.

Plug the phone directly into the EOP adapter.

Does it get an IP? Yes, or NO.

If YES

Put the TC back in place.. reset it and put it back in bridge mode.

Please tell me the following. IP of the AE. IP of the TC. perhaps post a screenshot of the AE and TC setup.

Then with the phone plugged into the TC, is the ethernet light on??

If NO

The Phone does not get an IP directly from the EOP adapter then the EOP adapter is faulty. Or not compliant to standard the phone needs.

Always go right back to the simplest possible network.. plug the IP phone into the router by ethernet.. I am not sure if the AE is the main router but if it is then make sure it is plugged by ethernet into the vdsl.. no EOP links, no wireless links.. even plug it straight into the modem if that is possible and reboot it.. if it fails.. then it is never going to work anywhere else on your network.

I would take the phone and get it tested.

Or give it a static IP and see if that works.

Always replace patch cables just to be sure it wasn't some silly cable.. and test with a switch if it is only 10mibt.. a lot of phones are well outclassed now and use old 10mbit ports.. so it can be worth testing with a switch..
