All,

here is a little follow up. A few weeks further and all my issues are solved, and here explained how:

  • charge connection: I found an article that this was caused by dust in the connector, so a cleaning with a paperclip and a cloth solved this problem free :-)
  • camera: 69€ from a shop that replaces iphone hardware
  • power button: 109€ from the same shop that replaces iphone hardware, got a 25€ discount because I let them fix both things at once

So I paid 153€ for the repairs and now everything is working as expected and i am a happy iphone user again. So for the big question, why not use apple warrantee, I will explain this here:

  • My Iphone 3GS: touch stopped working, so I sent this to apple using the supplier of my phone; after weeks got a message saying it had water damage, and it cost me around 300€ (half of the price) to get a NEW working device
  • My girlfriends 5: screen had 2 white lines, and was not response; again sent it to apple using the supplier of the phone; after a week again same explanation, this time I got it back for around 35€ in the state it was sent. Went to another store that replaces iphone screens, and at the cost of 129€ that phone was working again.

So that are the reasons why I did not sent this device to Apple, and went straight to a hardware store. So Apple maybe look into a better solution when people are having hardware problems with the phone. Because 3 of the 4 iphones I had, at some point had hardware problems. And maybe open an official Apple store in Belgium, because we have to drive to either Oberhausen in Germany, or Amsterdam, Den Hage, Utrect in the Netherlands.

I have two iPhone 4s's - mine and my wife's - that each had camera issues as follows: the camera app could be selected, but began to freeze up after taking a photo and then switching to Camera Roll view. After taking a few more photos on each, the camera app would not even stay active - it would freeze and then return to the home page.

Both problems were fixed by deleting about half the images I had stored on each using the photo viewer app and the camera roll album, then doing a full shutdown and restart.

In my wife's case, there were about 430 still photos and a few videos. In my case, there were about 100 photos, many of which HDR, and several longer videos.

I speculate that the native camera app has a hard-to-debug limitation on the total filesize of images that it can work with. Luckily, the native photo viewer app doesn't have the same limitation.

Nothing worked and there was no solution from apple. Went through every apple discussion page nothing helped every one was frustrated. I found your reply, in the start I thought it was foolish to try this but I was out of options. I tried it your way dude it seriously worked my back camera is now working fine. I don't know for how long my camera will work. But for know I can use my back camera . Thank You very much for your suggestion
