Why my safari can't open Facebook

Absolutely no suggestion mentioned in this thread so far works for me. Neither Doctor Koch, nor Guy Hollister, nor Alvin Kimball. I’m on Mountain Lion on an older MacBook Air and don’t wish to upgrade the OS. Is there really no solution to this? Really? Facebook works in all of my other browsers on the same machine, but those don’t support automatic text substitutions the way Safari does it.

This worked for me:

1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
2. Click the Date & Time icon in the System Preferences window that appears.
3. Make sure that "Set date and time automatically:" is selected, and that the selected server is set to your region.
   For example, in North America it should be set to "Apple Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com)".
4. Verify that the correct date and time are displayed in this preference pane.
5. Choose the Time Zone tab.
6. Make sure that the correct Time Zone is selected.

I'm in the same boat.

I've tried deleting cache and cookies, but it did't work for me.

After surfing some websites, I found some tips that worked for me.

Go to System Preferences,choose network

Click "advanced", go to the "Hardware" tab, and click on "configure", choose "manually"

Click on mtu, change it to "custom" and set the mtu number to 1453 (I dont why but the number is something like a networking secret from ancient times)

but if it still doesnt work for you, maybe u should check antivirus, because it could block access to some websites, just check ur antivirus and set up the web shield.

this did not work, ugh.

my safari also cannot open the facebook. Why that thing happen? Apple service. Please fix this issues

Make sure facebook isn't blocked by your computer or wifi because some computers and wifi block Facebook and other websites would result in the failure message.

I have this version of Safari and suddenly my Facebook will not open on my MacBook Air. Version 10.1 (12603.1.30.0.34) It opens on all my other devices with similar versions~! What is going on?

Remove all stored passwords from Safari. Change password for Facebook. It worked for me.

all along Facebook would open in mine but just recently it will not
