Blu-Ray burning error after Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 update.

I upgraded Final Cut Pro X to 10.1.2 I can no longer burn blu-ray. I get an error message "Either the video file or the audio file were an invalid format". I get the same message sharing through Final Cut or through Compressor. Please help!

I have been on the line with Apple for the past three days attempting all sorts of things including a reinstall. Was told moments ago my issue would be sent up to engineering. Quite obvious the guy in Advanced has no idea there has even been an issue. He kept telling me what I was experiencing had him baffled. Geeze.

I just tried the process of making the image on my iMac and this time it failed just like it does on the Mac Pro... I'm stumped because nothing has been updated on the iMac since this problem began.

I am losing patience with Apple on this one and wish they would just post an update that rolls it back to the previous working version until they get the bugs worked out of this one. I know I'm not the only one with upset customers because Apple broke my workflow and I am unable to provide them with a Blu-Ray yet...

I've spent hours and hours reading everyones responses ( and days and days trying to replicate them), with toast and compressor etc. etc. solutions which I'm sure might work for some. Bottom line is until they fix this you need to revert to an older version of FCPX before the upgrade is made. 10.1.1 is still good. I was afraid to put another version on my mac so I bought a cheap mac mini and just spitted out a 2 hour 5 minute blu-ray. (took 12 hours to do, but it's crystal clear, no toast 11, 12 compression artifcacting). If someone has a file they need output to a bluray I can help you. Put the file on an ftp site and I'll put it on a bluray for you. Just pay me shipping charges. This is crap that it's not fixed yet, and I feel your pain. Let me help you.

Exact same issue - my son has worked on a one hour documentary for three months now and his deadline for submission was Saturday, but could not burn the Blu-ray. So disappointing - very annoyed that Apple have not even commented. Has anybody had success using Toast from an FCPX master file? Reviews are variable and can be quite negative. In our case, CreateDisc won't even generate the Blu-ray disk files which looked like the most promising export path to Toast.

A suggestion - Apple may feel more urgency if we place reviews on the FCPX page on the app store, rather than just submitting feedback to support. There are 82 reviews for the current version and a four star rating. Ten reviews noting the 10.1.2 issues might get their attention. Larry Jordan responded to me Sunday (wow! - if only Apple did that) indicating he believed Apple knew about the problem. I still want to see it listed somewhere as a known issue with a possible ETA - why? Because this is forcing Apple's customers with deadlines to potentially spend money on other products.

If you have Compressor, one possibility might be to create a Blu Ray compliant disk, building from an MPEG2 preset. (The DVD preset, for example.) In the General tab, select Blu Ray for Stream usage. Boost the bit rate into the 20-25 mbps range. ensue that the Dolby Digital preset in included in the job.

If interested in this approach, I'd suggest a test on a short section of the movie to see whether it works to your son's satisfaction.

A fuller explanation of this was posted by someone else within the past month, but I was unable to locate it with search.

🙂 I will be everyone's savior. Check your app store for an update right now. I'm about to do a test blu-ray. The announcement says they have addressed the issue. 🙂
