iPhone automatically adding contacts to blocked list

My iphone 5s is automatically adding numbers to my blocked list. I have to go into the settings menu every day to clear out the list. Sometimes there are numbers in there, sometimes there are not. It doesn't seem to have any preference as to whether I speak to the contact regularly,or haven't used the contact in a year, nor does it care if I pick up the call or ignore it. I've checked the contact and it is not blocked from the contact screen. It will also put random numbers that call me (that are not stored in my contacts) on the list.

My phone has done it since I bought it in April, and my boyfriend just got one last week and his does it too. Has anyone had this issue? Why is my phone deciding who I can and can't talk to?

I have this same problem on my iPhone 6s using iOS 10.3.3. I chatted with production support and their solution was to reset my phone and not restore from backup. I was to reinstall apps one by one. The theory is that an installed application is causing the issue. I have found that a number goes to blocked after I have spoken to that person on the phone. I just uninstalled LinkedIN as it is the only app I have that interacts with my phone to block calls. Hoping that works. I will post back of it proves to work.

This happened to my iPhone and my wife's iPhone when we discovered that we weren't getting our daughter's texts and calls. Somehow her number was placed on our block list, and upon looking closer, I found quite a few other numbers on the blocked list that hadn't been specifically added.

Obviously something isn't working as it should. Been searching for this issue and so far this is the only thread I've come across with the same problem.

I have a iPhone 6s and am experiencing the issues. My boss and wife text me or call me and I am not getting it. I check the blocked numbers list and the contacts are in there - I have not blocked my wife or boss. I removed them and the next day they are there again. Upon further review, others are in the list too that I haven't texted, only called. I am a little taken aback that such and issue can occur. Please advise for a fix, and waiting at the Genius Bar is not the answer.

You are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user support forum. Except for the couple of people that indicated they had experienced this, no one else has posted, except the two of us that say it has never happened to us either. If you want to get Apple involved, you will either need to contact Apple Support, or you will need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have them look at the device. Those are your only two support choices.

i have the same issue. I have 4 iPhones and all of them block automatically our contacts. I just checked the blocked list last night and this morning I had 5 more added including my daughter's contact. I have contacted apple already and they are looking into this issue. I noticed this issue started from 9.X version. The solution suggested by turning off Settings/General/Handoff & Suggested Apps did not work. I have moved every device to a different apple account then join them to Family share and still the issue is present. I am hoping Apple can patch this issue fast, they promised they will.

I have this also. Sometimes I can go days and there will be no blocked numbers in my list. Then out of the blue, a whole slew of numbers will show up. I "unblock" them, but a different group and sometimes the same ones will reappear in my block list. Of course, I'm not blocking these IOS 9.3X is doing it for me. It is a serious flaw and very frustrating.

iPhone 7 10.3.3 up to date software and have had this automatic numbers added to call blocking for the past 2 months. Just got off the phone with apple support and after my operator consulted for a while this is the answer: Back up to itunes, then restore phone to factory default, then restore to back up. They intimated this was a software glitch of some sort.

I also went through and took ALL numbers out of the call block list.

I am now waiting to see if this will happen again. If so then there is a good chance I will go with Android phone. Pretty serious issue with no notification that a contact is being blocked....you would never know until they reach out on Facebook or Email.
