I Have been through several iPad charger cables. The ones from Apple fray at the edges, so I purchased an off brand one. The same thing happened. I purchased an Apple certified cable that was thicker and looked less likely to fray. Well, after a bit ver a week the metal part was left inside my iPad and the plastic part was empty. The iPad hadn't charged at all.
Which brand of charger cable do you recommend for my iPad 4th generation? Thank you
I have a Air, a iPhone 4s, 2 iPad 2's, a iPod Touch and 2 Nano's. While it is true "stuff wears out", these original cables fray and become a fire hazard at an alarming rate. I suspect one reason is that they are too short to be used while charging without causing strain near the area the cable enters the connectors. The other problem is the casing is too thin. On the internet you'll find numerous post and videos showing how to use a spring from a retractable ball point pen to add strain relief. That was a little late for this cable.
Sounds like you are pulling on the cable and not on the small connector plastic piece. My iPad 2 cable (with 30-pin connector) is 3 years old & I've never had your problem. My iPhone cable (with lightning connector) is 1 year old & I've never had your problem.

I Am being as careful as I can be after the firts two broke. The off brand one I was esp careful And the apple certified one, too.
