How to transfer notes to different e-mail account

New to the forum, hope I can get help with a problem here.

Just recently I had deleted my school e-mail account (g-mail) from my phone 4s. Turns out that all my notes were synced onto this account, and upon deleting the account, the notes disappeared with it. Fortunately, I was able to re-add the account and got my notes back immediately.

However, now I want to transfer my notes onto my yahoo account (also on my iphone) so I can permanently delete my g mail account without having my notes disappear. How do I go about doing this?

thank you.

How Yahoo Notepad syncs with Apple Notes

An iOS device syncs differently with Yahoo Notepad than it does with other Yahoo products, like Yahoo Calendar. We have a rundown of what to expect.

Results of syncing iOS "Notes" app with Yahoo Notepad

  • A "Notes" folder is created in your Yahoo Mail account, not your Yahoo Notepad.
    - Notes you create in the iOS "Notes" app under your Yahoo account will always appear in this folder.
  • This is a one-way sync from your iOS device to Yahoo.
    - If you add notes to the "Notes" folder in Yahoo Mail, you won't see them in your iOS device's Notes app.

Synching the Apple Notes app with a Yahoo Account

Learn how to sync the Apple Notes app with a Yahoo Account and how to manage your notes.

Notes created on the Apple Notes app can be synchronized to Yahoo Mail by adding your Yahoo Account to your iDevice (iPod/iPhone/iPad). Here's how:

  1. On your iDevice, click Settings | Mail | Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Turn on the Notes sync option.

Once a new iDevice note is added, a new Folder in Yahoo Mail called "Notes" is created; all the notes will be shown under this folder immediately. However, the notes cannot be edited from your Yahoo Mail account because it's a one-way sync.

Note:
Apple Notes application is designed so that when the sync is turned on to upload Notes to Yahoo, the iDevice doesn't keep a local copy.
On the Notes Application, click the Accounts button and it shows the list as follows:

  • All Notes
  • On My iDevice (iPhone/iPad/iPod)
  • Yahoo

Click the Yahoo button, and you see the list of Notes saved on Yahoo. Click "On My iPhone/iPad/iPod," and it shows the list of Notes saved locally.
Please note that the application does not provide a "copy all" function to be able to transfer all the notes between the Yahoo! and "On My iPhone/iPad/iPod" layers, so you would need to copy them individually and create new notes on the "On My iPhone/iPad/iPod" layer.
Another alternative to copy your data would be:

  1. Log in to your Yahoo Mail account on your computer.
  2. Click the Notes folder to view the notes.
  3. Copy/paste each note into an email.
  4. Access the email on your iDevice and copy/paste the text into the “On My iPhone/iPad/iPod” layer of your Notes app.

If you want your notes saved on the iDevice only, please only add them to the “On My iPhone/iPad/iPod” list.

Note: The Yahoo Notes folder and the iDevice Notes app have no connection to Yahoo Notepad.

It isn't simple but it isn't clear for me either.

I noticed previously sync notes doesn't go into the new sync email. The workaround to it is to open old notes, copy the notes, create a new note, then it would sync to the new email.

1. Open a existing note you want to transfer to your Yahoo account.

2. Select all (text etc.)

3. Copy

4. Create a new note

5. Paste (text from your old note)

6. Done!

I hope you don't have too many notes to copy.

Sorry I finally got what you meant I thought you have saved notes like an attachment in your gmail account.

You do have your yahoo email added right?

If you do, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>Yahoo Account>Turn on Notes

Settings>Notes>Default Account>Yahoo>Yahoo Account

You can sync it to both yahoo and google if you wish.

I have turned on the "Notes" in all my iphone e-mail accounts, and have even made the yahoo account my default account. Yet, I still see no "notes" folder in my yahoo account. When I check my yahoo mail through desktop, the notes folder is empty.

Problem still not resolved. When I go to my "notes" app, all my notes are still in the gmail account. Yahoo account just says "No Notes".

You should do that with all your notes. Confirm it is all saved to your yahoo before deleting the g-mail account. It shouldn't disappear as long as all your notes are sync to your yahoo. Just to make sure Settings>Notes>Default>Yahoo before deleting g-mail account too. All your sync gmail notes will disappear after deleting gmail account. Make sure you see duplicate notes on your phone to show you new notes and old notes match each other.
