Ipad has 2.5g of free space yet shows as no space left
Very odd- I have about 2.7g of free space but I can't get any apps to update or 7.1.2 to load due to 'lack of space'? Any help deeply appreciated.

You need working space for your iPad/apps to operate.
Maybe I wasn't clear- I have 2.5 gigs of space yet my iPad won't update any 50k apps, nor the 7.1.2 update which requires 770mb- and I have 3x that much space
You need to allocate space for the iPad to operate (working space)
I'm not sure how to make myself clearer- there's a lot of space- certainly enough to update a 100k app or 12, yet the iPad says it won't because there's not enough space. I can clearly see the 'Other' and all the other allocations, and I've been an Apple user since 1987 so this isn't my first computing device
You should be able to update your app if you delete some of your stuff off your iPad.
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad
