Beachball after installing iTunes 11.3

After installing iTunes 11.3 on my Macbook Pro Retina running OS X 10.9.4, I get a beachball that never ends. I forced quit, restarted, and got another beachball. After another force quit and a restart, I still get an endless beachball whenever starting iTunes 11.3. How do i downgrade to the previous version? Is there any other fix to this at all? I rely on iTunes and now it's dead software.

I am running Snow Leopard - installed Itunes 11.3 last night - did not have problems.

Double checked while signed into this site that it opened and played and lo and behold when I closed it, it signed off of this site and I could not get to the login and I could not get the internet connection to disconnect so I shutdown, waited 1 minute and pressed the start button.

My Itunes on open is set to my play lists - not to the store - and I am not on the cloud - so it may be a login/logout problem/ - as on this site I could not get to the logout screen because I was logged out.

(I shut down the mac when not in use rather than using sleep - only time I use restart is when an upgrade calls for it)

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Same problem as original poster. I'm running OSX 10.9.4 with itunes 11.3 (Just updated this morning. Previous version had no problems) on MacBook Pro. Now, I just get raindbow wheel, application not responding. Have had to force quit. Did safe boot, safe start, same results. Did reinstall, same deal.

Here's the Console log extract I got when I pulled up itunes:

As of now, it appears the only application affected is itunes, which as I said, was just updated this morning.

Nothing shows up in the console screen. I do get flashes of "Processing Album Artwork" messages within iTunes, but it never seems to stop, even after many hours. I've been getting beachballs interrupted by short periods of being able to scroll a little (I have a lot of podcasts, and I'm looking at the in list view) but mostly just beachballs and an inability to scroll while they're happening. When they stop, I can scroll a few lines within iTunes, but then it starts again for 20+ minutes before I get a brief break.

Back up all data.

As a test, please move the iTunes library folder from the Music folder (or wherever you keep it in your home folder) to the Desktop. If you've moved the library folder to another volume, unmount the volume.

Quit and relaunch the application. It may prompt you to create a new library, or to select an existing one. Create a new one and import a few tracks. Test.

After testing, quit again and put the original library back where it was, replacing the test library. Post your results.

iTunes stopped beachballing for a while when I went away, and restarted as soon as I tried to scroll in the program. This is what the console showed:

Try disconnecting from the internet - change the network preference to NOT CONNECT when needed.

Shut down - wait a minute or two, power back up - make sure you are not on the internet - and then try and open ITUNES.

Currently you may be stuck in a problem with signing on the the Apple.

I use dial up and long ago unchecked the box to auto connect when needed.
