Stuck on Safari 7.1. Any way to downgrade?

Hi,

So, for some reason, it looks like Safari on my laptop was upgraded to version 7.1. I did a little googling and found that 7.1 is a developer version. I am not, nor have ever been part of the developer program, and 7.1 breaks a feature of one of my more frequently used plugins (ClickToPlugin). Is there any way for me to downgrade to 7.0.5? I'm running OS X 10.9.4. I haven't been able to find any download links to 7.0.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > About Safari

Which version do you see?

You're not alone > Safari 7.1 Seed 1 Developer Preview

Hi,

When I click "About Safari," I get version 7.1. Same with when I press Cmd+I on the Safari.app in my Applications folder.

Thanks for the link. I just realized that I did sign up for the Yosemite beta program but received no response.

What I am trying right now is installing the 10.9.4 Combo Update. Thanks for your response!

Yes. See the link I posted previously on this thread.

At this point, you need to restore OS X using OS X Recovery

Takes about 35 to 45 minutes on a broadband connection.

Make sure to backup all important data first just in case.

Same problem, updated this morning to 7.1.1 through App update. Restoring OS X seems a bit drastic, especially on a slow internet connection. Won't Apple be posting an update to rectify the problem they have created?

Did you sign up for the beta or developer program?

No, I didn't sign up to the developer programme, 7.1.1 just appeared this morning as an update which I clicked okay, without thinking that Apple had made a mistake. I am aware that OS X Recovery requires broadband, however in rural Gloucestershire our connection is not fast, thats why I was hoping there might be another solution?

I'm afraid not.

That update has been removed from the App Store now.

It might be faster on Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

From what you say there will be no immediate update for those of us who have installed the 7.1 seed by mistake?

Presumably the official update will be released by Apple, that will supersede the 7.1 seed in due course. As long as Safari runs okay with the 7.1 seed, I might as well await that development? Is it not possible to reinstall Safari 7.0.5 from Time Machine if problems arise in the mean time?

The next Safari update would be 7.0.6.

You could try a TM backup ..

Otherwise,the only way to revert to the current Safari version of 7.0.5 is to restore OS X as I mentioned previously.
