Charger went bang

I am not sure how to communicate this with Apple, as the MacBook is no longer under warranty. However, my charger produced a blue flash as I plugged it in and then went bang. It has scorched the pins on the plug. Luckily the surge protector did its job and protected me. So now I have a scorched charger and a dead surge protector. Surely this is a faulty charger?


How do I raise this with Apple without paying the £35 fee?😟

You'll likely spend an even more hefty fee asking Apple about it, now that it is out of warranty.


You can try though by contacting AppleCare

and ask to speak to a manager and see if there are any exchange/repair programs you qualify for.
