I mistakenly bought a fake iPhone 5s online, but when I checked the serial number on apple support it came back legit even saying it had warranty until February?

Fake? Or stolen? If it's fake, what makes it an iPhone? Nothing but an Apple device can load the boot ROM and iOS. If it's stolen and you managed to sign in to iCloud on it, evidently the previous owner was unfortunate enough to not be signed in to Activation Lock.
If it's a fake iPhone, it's using a cloned serial number from a real iPhone. But Apple still isn't going to support it.

Yeah I'm not expecting warranty on a fake iphone haha, I didn't realize serial numbers could be so easily cloned as you say.
I imagine they got a look at a real phone, copied down the SN, and used it for multiple fake ones.
