I figured out my problem. The Beats Studio 2.0 wired and wireless look exactly the same. I bought from Goodwill and they said they are wireless type. I figured they are not wireless, one side will be marked Studio and other Wireless; both sides say Studio therefore I have the wired type. Thank you for your help.

I was able to connect bluetooth headphones to my iMac by going to System Preferences (apple icon in the top left corner), clicking on the Bluetooth logo, pairing the headphones there. Then once connected, go back to the System Preferences menu, click the "Sound" icon (speaker). Under "Play Sound Effects Through" dropdown, select the headphones. Hope this helps.

Yes, it CAN BE DONE!!! 🙂

iphone 6+ OS9.2 would cut out if i changed song and finally stopped receiving Bluetooth signal from phone.

I tried what "NOBIGDEAL" recomended, but without success. I then tried a USB cord connecting my Beats and computer.Going to the beats website and download latest; it will ask you to "RENAME IT", follow exactly what they say. I wud recommend disabling your computer's Bluetooth (at some point), as it will try to pair with your phone and that MAY BE a contributing factor to this whole effort not working. Bingo! everything's working, and Oh, to be able to wash dishes while immersed in my Beats again!

Thanks to the forum for all your efforts

You shouldn't need to press any buttons to get the beats studio wireless headphones to pair with either an iPod or an iPhone, they should recognise each other straightaway. Nine times out of 10 when people can't connect the headphones to their iPhone, they've already got it connected to another device, an iPod or an iPad. You can only have it connected to one device in the same space. You'll find that as soon as you remove it from one device, it will suddenly appear on the other.

You may find that you have to manually press a button on some stereo units in order to access the wireless speakers from an Apple device. I've got a Panasonic unit and it won't automatically recognise my iPod or iPhone, I've got suppress a couple of buttons on the remote control in order for it to go into the pairing mode.

Life's too short, and I'm old and tired.

Can't find the volume down button to reset the puppies. Bluetooth on the mac loses the Beats 3 with monotounous regularity, and my blood pressure is rising everytime I try to use these 'phones. Even when I connect with the headphone jack on the Mac, the balance is so far out that the Beats is useless.

My solution was to simply pack away the Beats headphones and go back to using wired puppies. SImple fix. No problems. Waste of money, yeah ... but I do get sound through the phones now.

Much less aggravation that way.

Apple REALLY needs to offer some utilities (as both a Mac application and an IOS app) to specifically diagnose and reset the Beats product before continuing with its sale. Bluetooth/OS troubleshooting support at the moment is VERY rudimentary - perhaps because Cupertino made some assumptions they shouldn't have.

No to the Beats Solo3.

The Bluetooth connection (and I use the word loosely) is seriously glitchy and unreliable ... I have multiple Apple devices (phones, pads and Macs) all of which are the latest release devices and capable of connection over Bluetooth with the 'phones, all of which are running the latest versions of the MacOS or IOS, and the puppies won't reliably connect with any of them. Hence, they are useless to me ... I mean, I have to have some confidence that my hardware will perform before I'm gonna use them consistently.

So, I've gone back to wired headphones (I have a couple of pairs of high end and mid-range Sennheisers and the like to fall back on - so no problem there). As I said, I can't be bothered spending time doing connection resets, diagnosing faulty connects or whatever ... when I want sound, I expect it to happen automatically with no fuss.

And the Beats Solo3 isn't doing that for me.

If Apple can't make the Beats Bluetooth more reliable, maybe they want to rethink junking the sound port on their various devices, or, as I said, offer some MacOS and IOS utilities that quickly circumvent the this 'fragile Bluetooth' problem.

Just my 2 cents worth ... and probably not even worth that. 🙂
