Disable FaceTime Audio Ducking

My boyfriend is fast asleep via FaceTime (he likes waking up to me 😍), and I want to watch Netflix. However..... FaceTime takes over all the audio. I can't listen to anything on any other application without it being really low.

I've done some digging online, and apparently this is a new Mavericks "feature"... most posts I saw were from December 2013, so I was just wondering if there's some handy dandy trick or terminal code I could use to disable it.

Please.... someone.... I'd hate to hear snoring all night.
